Why is he doing this?

OK, its not a major health concern (i don't think!) but i want to make sure i haven't missed something....

When out on on-lead walks barney has taken to throwing himself on the grass verges and rolling around.  Now I have examined him thoroughly and the places where he is doing it (although this changes from day to day) and I think I have discounted the following:

* ear mites
* fleas
* poo or some other delight on the floor to mark his scent....

have you got any ideas why he is doing it?

I also thought it might have been because he was hot, but he now started doing it in the rain or sunshine so i am stuck!!

Any advice/comments welcomed and also if it is just a behaviour thing i would love to know if other cockers do this!

This is one of Molo's favourite things to do  :lol:

I used to think it was because he was hot, but he is doing it just as much this summer - so I guess it just feels good and he enjoys it  :005:

One of my lurchers does that - and with him I think it is mainly to cool down as he generally throws himself on the grass when he is hot.

Vegas & Dallas both do this too - they do mostly do it when its warm and dry but they have been known to do it in the snow  :lol:

Just another cocker-ism then!

It does make me giggle when he does it, just wanted to check that I am not missing a symptom of something else  :lol:

I bet my neighbours think we have a barmy dog!

Loki does this all the time, grass carpet and teh other day in the middle of the road  ::) Luckily for us its a really quiet road and the elderly gent walking the other way found it highly amusing (shame I wasnt so impressed  :shades: )
