Wilf's got another lump
« on: November 30, 2003, 10:08:29 AM »
Trying not to panic too much about this one but found another lumpy lymph node.  Thought it might be related to that persistent ear infection (he's had since he was in Cambridge), but Steve my vet thinks highly unlikely. Steve washed his ear out under sedation on weds just to see if anything else was going on and while infection is deeper than suspected it doesn't look like its enough to cause inflammation elsewhere. Back tomorrow to see what Steve thinks we should do now and then off to Cambridge again on 11 Dec for a checkup (workup of bloods, X-rays and ultrasound).

Poor Wilf is taking all of this in his stride and thankfully still loves going to the vets 8) .

Edited to say that I forgot to add that the last lymph node was cancerous as the 1st path lab suspected and the checkup on the 11th is just to check whether its spread or not (even if its spread there is no treatment).

Wilf on the night before he went to hospital in Cambridge and when he had 2 whole ears (section of left one now removed along with the lymph node just above his shoulder)

Oh Penny - poor Wilf.  We've all got our fingers and paws crossed in this house that Wilf is fine.  Life can be really horrible at times.

Thankfully yes, and he's getting away with murder

Once I knew it was cancer I was fine about it as I felt I could quite easily live each day at a time and treat Wilf as any other normal puppy especially as he's bounding around. But when you find another reminder you feel all wobbly again (my vet remains positive though).

Sadly I get wobbly as about 3 years ago I had to nurse 2 of my cats over a period of months who finally died from FIP (feline infectious peritonitis—horrible disease). At the time I was told how unlucky I was to have 2 unrelated cats with FIP in a small cat household and each subsequent vet always reminds me how rare that one was so of course I get wobbly now and again.
