Teething question - embedding teeth into gums ?
« on: January 02, 2008, 08:55:43 AM »
Hamish appears to have all his adult teeth through, but in the last week or so he has become very chewy again and demanding ice cubes.  He literally runs to the kitchen and scratches the door of the freezer for them !  Last night he went through virtually a whole tray of them !!   Is this because although the teeth are through he has to embed them in to the gums so to speak ?

they do go through secondary teething when the back molars bed in....think Jarv's started slightly later than this but that's what it could be.

They are massive teeth, so I can imagine the discomfort!  :-\

Jake has become quite chewy too since getting all of his big teeth. I think it takes a while for their gums to settle down.

Thanks for your replies - if it is his big back teeth then not suprised he is in pain.  Now & then he keeps jumping up at me, biting and making a whining noise which suggests he is in pain.  This is often followed by demanding scrapping on freezer door till I give him ice cubes.  Fingers crossed they bed in quickly !  ;)
