Milo with more ear issues.............
« on: March 24, 2008, 09:10:40 AM »
....but different to last time, not an infection, he has a fairly large red fatty lump come up on the top of his inner ear.

I'm guessing it's a Histiocytoma   :-\ will have to go to the vets and see on Tuesday.

It doesn't seem to be bothering him at all  :-\ he isn't scratching it anyway....

I hope it is nothing sinister though  :'(

It has come up big like that in a couple of days, because it wasn't there the other day when I did a full grooming session.

Poor wee soul. They always have something wrong with them when the vet is closed. Mine usually wait until a Saturday afternoon - my vet shuts at 12.30  >:(

Thanks Jaspersmum, I did see Toby's in the flesh so to speak (at a show), Milo's seems bigger than Tobe's was  :-\, and I think it looks a little different
:-\ but I know Toby's bothered him, or at least that he scrathed at it. Milo doesn't even seem to realise his is there :-\

EDA I will try and get a photograph later

They can grow quite large especially if they are scratching them --- hope its just a benign histiocytoma

Or it could be a Hematoma

An Aural Hematoma is a collection of blood under the skin of the ear flap of a dog or cat
Ear hematoma occurs much more commonly in dogs than in cats; a hematoma generally is the result of trauma to the pinna from an injury or from the dog or cat scratching at the ear.The entire ear flap can become swollen

Might be best to get it checked out.

Rosie our old girl had a Haemtoma hers went hard after a while.
The vet drained it for us and said it might keep coming back (it did).We took Rosie to see a Homeopathic vet she gave us some tablets, they worked. It takes alot longer but it didn't come back.

Milo has to have his ear operated on Friday :'( :'( It is a large Histiocytoma, and the vet wouldn't say much, just that it would be sent away for analyis :'(

And do boot, what do you know yesturday, said ear started stinking like pukey stuff, so they are going to have a good look around in it whilst he is under, as he has had a good few problems with that ear recently, and even Thornits hasn't helped it  :-\

Oh poor Milo (and you).

Could it just be that the histiocytoma is stopping the air circulating and causing the whiff this time round?

Hope it all goes well for you on Friday, and that the results will come back quickly to stop you worrying!
