Bailey's nose is a bit of a mess!

Hi guys,

Bailey has just been attacked by a huuuge dog that was off course off the lead - if you've read my behaviour post you'll understand!
I managed to separate them but he got a cracker of a slap to the nose from the other dog. He now has 3 medium scratches to his nose totally withiut any fur. They aren't too deep but they're still bleeding. He also has a cut in between his nostrils.

I have cleaned them with boiled salt water and some antiseptic cream - what now?

Don't have a clue what i'm doing and think i'm more upset than him!

Sounds like what you did was fine. Noses bleed like crazy as the skin is so thin, but it will stop eventually. Just keep an eye on it over the next few days for any signs of infection.

Aww poor wee guy, I think what you are doing is fine but you may need to add a large glass of wine/vodka/cider for you for medicional purposes

Sorry to hear about poor Bailey's nose - it will be fine though I'm sure. As posted above noses bleed more than other areas. My friend's dog once caught Twix on her nose and it bled for a while and looked terrible afterwards but was caused by just the slightest of scrapes.

A cut is a cut! by human or dog  standards in most cases so whatever you would put on yourself like savlon for instance will work for pooch too its always worked for me and has saved on some rather costly vet bills hope he feels better soon!

Poor Bailey, I hope his nose gets better soon.

Its not fair is it, Ellie was attacked by a boxer last week, she was on her lead and the boxer was loose.  She is fine but was very shaken at the time.  It really knocks you for six so I know how you feel.

he seems ok - think i'm more bothered than he is! It's an absolute cracker though  totally taken all the fur off - me thinks my handsomeboy might have a scar  and i'm sure this will help his problems with dogs attacking him!
