Advice please.....kennel cough?
« on: August 22, 2008, 01:56:57 PM »
These last two mornings when Carrera is woken for her first wee she has been displayed symptoms of what I can only describe as coughing together with a desire to clear her throat (as though trying to cough out a hair ball). These symptoms last for around 2 minutes, and whilst they occur she does not seem to be in distress. She is still wagging her tail and greeting us the same as she does every morning.
After the two minute episode she is absolutely fine....eating and exercising well and in excellent spirits.
As far as I can I have checked her mouth and there is no obvious obstruction.
Has anyone else encountered this?
She is 5 months old.

Further to above I have done a search on the forum (APOLOGIES I SHOULD HAVE DONE THIS BEFORE POSTING  :embarassed: )
I shall take advice and try childrens cough mixture and honey in ice cubes.
Many thanks

Lucy does a sort of cough/gag thing quite often, everyone else thinks she's about to be sick but she never is. I've got no idea what causes it, but it's never been a problem for her. :-\

It's not reverse sneezing, is it? That can appear quite distressing  :-\

Could just be a minor cough bug. I thought Arwen had caught KC and was panicking i'd hav to shut daycare down for weeks but luckily it was just a light cough bug and only 4 dogs caught it. Hope you solve the mystery!
