Advice please, Belles sick
« on: September 15, 2009, 07:49:11 PM »
Hi all . Belle is having vomiting and diarrhoea. I came in from work about 4pm she had been her usual self for OH all afternoon, she did a poo upstairs and it was custard consistency (really sorry for being so graphic ph34r) and then about 15 mins later she did a watery poo it looked like a spilt coffee with 3 bits in it (sorry again), then she started vomiting  clear fluid. She has vomited about 6 times since. She is quite lethargic and seems to want to be outside all the time, my OH just had to carry her in from the garden as she wouldnt get up and come in, she is really not herself :'( The only thing I can think of is that on her walk yesterday she paddled in the lake, she was near the edge and now I am worrying in case the water was stagnant, she has never gone in the lake before just the streams.
Any advice please
Jo, Belle and Monty

Best to get her to the vets, especially if she is lethargic. Duggie had a v+d bug for a few days, but was still bright and active, so it doesn't sound like the same one, it could have been the lake. :-\

I hope she gets well very soon. :luv:

If she were mine then I'd be on the phone to the vet.

As she's lethargic and not keeping water down (has she taken a drink since being sick?) then I would check with the vet on what to do.

I know pro-kolin is good for this sort of thing, but better to be on the safe side from what you've said ;)

Rufus went in a dirty ditch at about a year old. I left it over night but he was very very ill the next morning and I had to go straight to the vets. I just avoided a drip. The vet reminded me that there can be chemical and bacterial, as well as viral gastroenteritis, and a drainage ditch could have all three. I reckon young dogs just do not have the resistance. I hope you can get some advice and get it sorted soon, because i know what a worry it is.

Hope Belle is alright.  It's dreadful when they are poorly, I would rather be ill myself than Ellie be poorly.

Looking forward to hearing good news.
