So so sorry. 17 years is a LONG time. I can't imagine how you are feeling, I am in tears just reading through some of the replies on this thread. :'(

I'm really sorry for your loss.
I think the fact that you started this thread was a way of coming to terms with what was going to happen.
Please don't feel guilty for carrying on so long - you love'd your dog very much and I am sure that Jezzie knew that

Just caught up with this.  I send prayers and love to you.  :luv:   I lost my darling Jarvis to Auto Immune last September.  To cut a long story short, he went to the animal hospital and his condition had deteriorated so much we had no choice but to let him go.  I am not over it and never will be BUT you do learn to live with it.  I have a lovely new puppy (took me months before I was ready to get another) but I still think of Jarvis every day.  I "see" him in the garden and the places where we would go for our walks.  I loved him more than anything, and he loved me, just like you and your darling girl.  You will feel better and it will take time.  Just remember the great love you had for each other and carry that in your heart forever.  XXX
