Thanks for the good wishes everyone.  Mabel has her x-ray at the end of next week (I think).  I'll update this thread as soon as I hear anything.

Had a brief update on Mabel this evening.  She had her hips xrayed today and they are fine.  The vet is concerned about a possible neurological problem and she has been put on steroids for three weeks.  Poor little girl  :'(
