Update Robbie
« on: April 10, 2005, 04:38:23 PM »
Update for all you kind folk out there.
We have had 2 calls today from the vet and she can confirm as much as possible through further tests that it is Pancreatitus.
He is now on Pethadine and Anti Sick drugs plus anti biotics.
He seems not too have gone down any further but the improvement is marginal. The vet has said he has stood up today and that is some consolation. We have agreed not to see visit him at the moment so as not to upset him but hopefully they can admin a little food soon and see how he may react. I feel more posiitive at the moment than earlier but as the vet says it is early days and we must be aware of how things could change.
Rosie has become very quiet and senses her loss.
We spend all the hours in the day worrying here and crossing everything.
So far no fits have occured and that also is good news for Robbie.
Many thanks for all your kind thoughts I will update all as soon as news comes in.
Erica

I missed the earlier threads - im so sorry to hear what you have been through, but really pleased that he is improving.

scamp, the dog my family had when i was younger, had pancreatitus and he did go on to have a quite a number of happy years with us after he was diagnosed - and he was still the character he had always been!

keep being positive, we're sending you and Robbie all the best, and crossing everything for you too.
xx my working cocker works very hard at being a lap dog xx

Do hope things continue to improve.

Is the vet thinking that he has epilepsy and pancreatitis, or that the fits might have been caused by the pancreatitis?

Will be thinking of you all :P

How ever tiny it's a positive step by the sound of it. Wee steps like that every day will be just fine.

Thoughts and best wishes to Robbie and his family

I think this happened to Shazza who has Jarvis and he came through it in the end.

Hope Robbie continues to improve, at least the vet knows what he's dealing with now

Just caught up with this tread, so sorry to hear Robbie is unwell.  Jarvis had pancreatitis a day after he arrived to live with us, he was 6 years old.  He spent 6 days in the animal hospital and we weren't allowed to visit him either for the first 3 days.  He was critical for the first few days but he slowly got better and now is a normal bouncy cocker.

Hugs for Robbie, hope he gets better soon.
