Really Worried~~blood In Runs~~
« on: April 09, 2005, 10:21:03 AM »
Barley has always had runny poo~occassionally i may become firm but not for long.
Today he went in the garden and had a runny poo (not water more like angel delight). When he'd done he moved away and pushed a few spots of mucus like blood out.
He is full of beans, eating like a locust and totally "himself!.
He woke me up at 4am as he needed the loo which is a little unusual.
He is also fully vaccinated and insured.
Does anyone have any advice please before i rush for the vets????.
Should i just keep an eye on him over the next 24hrs or does he need medical help NOW???
Thanks,
A very worried,
Sue :(  :o

Blood in poo is not always something to worry about. If he's had the runs then the little blood vessels can burst but they soon heal. If all his poo is sloppy though then something's not quite right, could be a bug, something he's eaten or an actual medical condition.

I would keep an eye on him for a couple of days. Feed him bland safe stuff, cooked chicken, rice, scrambled egg for the next day or so and see what difference that makes. What has he been eating? Do you only give him water to drink?

Hi Pam,
I think we have sorted the problem!
We have been overdoing the doggy treats!.
He had a FULL bag of Winalot treats yesterday~i gave him some,my daughter and Husband too!.
It was my Father In Law that spotted the problem~thank goodness.

Many thanks for your help,
Sue x

P.s. I will keep a close eye on his food intake over the next couple of days to make sure!
