Barnaby's first training class
« on: February 16, 2004, 01:35:25 PM »
Yesterday Barnaby went to his first training class, with around nine other dogs. It was also his first time out of the house and garden on the lead. All of the other dogs were bigger and older than him because he has only had his second jab last thursday. They were very lively, jumping about and barking loudly. Barnaby was terrified. We were told to lead them around the hall but Barnaby just sat on the floor and wouldn't move. We also had to try and make them sit but I couldn't get him to stand up let alone sit :? I felt very sorry for him because all the other dogs were trying to play with him but he was too scared. I hope he gets used to it by next week!

Indie was like this at first, but the more dogs he met the better he got. If you can socialise him as much as possible, it will become easier.

I wish our training classes had nine in them, the last time there were 28!

It was his second class today and he was much better. We took him for quite a few walks before this time and he met some dogs and people. Its annoying, when he meets strangers and they stroke him he  acts all cute and doesn't bite :) but when we pet him he starts biting us!
