After running AVG Anti-virus Scan
« on: February 06, 2007, 05:35:54 PM »
I get the following in the results

C:\WINDOWS\system32\kernel32.dll        -       Change   -  Changed
C:\WINDOWS\system32\shell32.dll          -        Change   -  Changed
C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\etc\hosts -     Change   -  Changed

Now it tells me its changed it (whatever it is) but then appears again on the next scan, any suggestions anyone please?

Also,

on Windows Task Manager it tells me I have 44 processes running, even if I haven't got any windows/programs open, again any thoughts please?

Thank you :003:

Running Windosw and your system, graphics, keyboard AV etc etc all adds to the processes running list even though you might not be doing anything. 44 does seem rather a lot though :-\

As for the AVG stuff - has your system started behaving any differently recently?

Ive never used AVG before but having a quick Google of your problem bring up this:

To get AVG to stop showing them as changed, open the AVG Test Center, click the F3 key on your keyboard and tell it to accept the changes. If it still shows something as changed after this.. delete the file named AVG7QT.DAT in C:\ and AVG will rebuild it the next time it is run.

Dont worry about the changed files, its just letting you know they have been modified since the scan started. System files are always changing with new data.

Ive got 50 odd processes running at the mo with just Firefox open  :D

If your AVG is all upto date and you are still worried you could try running this following program just to make sure you dont have any Malware. (Lavasoft adaware)

Thanks everyone, as long as they're nothing to worry about  :shades:

Jim, I have AdAware , I think I installed it on here the last time you helped me out  ;)
