Email error, Help!
« on: February 09, 2007, 11:21:13 AM »
I am getting an error message up which is stopping me from receiving emails >:(

It happened this morning whilst my AVG was updating.  I opened Outlook Express and whilst it was sending/receiving email I had a Zone Alarm warning come up.  I denied access (didn't really look to see what it was ph34r).  I then had a progress report for Outlook which said:

Task 'mail.btinternet.com - Receiving' reported error (on 800CCCOF).  The connection was interrupted.  The server responded:
-ERR AVG POP3 Proxy Server:  Cannot connect to the main server

Any advice in the most simplistic terms would be appreciated please ph34r ;)

Have you checked Zone Alarm to see if you've accidentally blocked Outlook Express? Open up Zone Alarm, then click on Program Control - this gives you a list of all the programs on your PC you've allowed to access the internet and those you've blocked. Have a look at any blocked ones (they'll have a red cross) and see if they could be causing the prob.

Oh you're a star Jane, thanks :D  I'd blocked AVG Email Scanner, unblocked it and now working.  Phew, been waiting on some emails all morning :shades:
