Gemma is a poorly pup again
« on: May 24, 2023, 04:05:43 PM »
Gemma back at the vets. We found a lump on the back of her neck and she also has a sore mouth. The lump they think is a infected tick bite. We did remove one a while back but as it was intact and alive thought no more of it
She is in for a dental, and if the lump hasn't improved they will do a  biopsy..  we opted for bloods aswell, good job as her kidneys are showing  elevated readings. They are hoping this is due to the metacam she has been on and will normalise now they have changed to something else.
Me and wallet are waiting to fetch her home and found out  the outcome of her sore mouth.

3 teeth removed ( including 2 front teefs so she won't be smiling). The roots  were badly decayed and a bad infection. Only 36 months since her last dental op.  She was also kept on the drip longer than necessary to help flush her kidneys.  She is home for rest HAha, and soft food( I had fish and chips to share, well they are soft)  No worries now until 8pm when I have to get half a paracetamol down her. Now that is a challenge 😵‍💫😵‍💫🐾

Update.
Gemma has not bounced back after her dental , 3 teeth removed and bad infection. . Her post op checkup is Tuesday but we decided not wait. It's hard to describe to someone else what is abnormal about their everyday behaviour. .Anyway ,they think it due to the infection and pain . So stronger antibiotics, tramadol and parcetamol.
She is currently fast asleep as the painkillers have kicked in.

:'( oh poor Gemma. I think most of us can relate to the misery caused by teeth problems, no wonder she‘s not herself. Fingers crossed the antibiotics will kick in over the weekend and she‘ll start to feel better.
Lots and lots of  :bigarmhug: :bigarmhug: from me and bum wiggles and tail wags from Humph‘.

Poor Gemma. Teeth are a pain when they come, and a pain when they go (and often while you've got them!). Hope she feels better when the drugs kick in.
