My younger Cocker, Louis, has one. When he went for his first vaccination the vet said to keep an eye on it in case it got bigger and that it might need to be operated on, but Louis is now 2 years old and it's never got any bigger or caused any problems.

Fingers crossed that it will be the same for Badger

Clover had one. We had it fixed when she was spayed at 6 months. The vets recommended that if we we going to get her done to do it at 6 months so they could sort the hernia as well rather than leave the her is as it was quite large. It didn't cause her any problems in the months between her coming home and her op.

Heidi has one, even when she was speyed, the vets opted to leave it alone as it had sealed internally.

Someone else posted this week about their pup having an operation prior to coming home (think it was linked to an insurance query)

Theo now 5 has had an umbilical hernia since he was born. It has never bothered him and we call it his sticky out belly button.  ph34r
