Fern ended up at the emergency vets yesterday evening after vomiting all day, even water wouldn't stay down for more than 5 minutes. Very quiet but with a hard, tender stomach and obviously in great pain, trying to stretch, slow cautious walking with her head down and couldn't settle anywhere. At one point she went into play bow stance with her chin on the ground and stayed there motionless for 10 minutes
She has been x-rayed and doesn't have a blockage and hasn't had diawotsits. She is on a drip and her blood had so much fat in it that it was beyond their equipment's capability to analyse it, so tests are being sent away today, but they strongly suspect pancreatitis.
She's been on a low dose Prednisolone for the past 3 weeks and it is possible that this triggered it, coupled with fat in the diet.. Please, if your dog has to be put on Pred, be very careful to keep them away from any fat in their diet. Fern usually has lean meat, but had some butchers lamb trimmings a couple of days ago. I cut off a lot of the fat, but obviously not enough.
The healing powers of COL members are needed for my very special girl please. She is quite poorly.
