I got a call from BDML yesterday [halifax] telling me my insurances won't be renewed when they run out on 4th November  >:D

They said they will write to me about going with Petwise. I asked if  previous illnesses they have had while with the Halifax would be covered, mumbled some excuse about just doing his job and I'd get the details in a letter. So guess not then. I thought I had my animals covered for life but seems they can just dump you.

Same here for Indie - its up for renewal next month so guess I better start looking about now.

We're lucky in that we have no pre-existing conditions, its disgusting that people who have and now have to move won't have their pets insured for those conditions  >:D

I'll be alright switching Reuben as he has no pre-exixting conditions. But Casper has been treated for seasonal allergies, ear infections and heart/breathing problems.  >:(  I'm glad I claimed £1500 from them last year now.   :shades:

I'm with Halifax too - for both Dylan and Daisy. The policies aren't due for renewal until March next year - but think I may look around now. At present they don't have any pre-existing conditions - it would be sods law that something would happen between now and March if I stayed for the remainder of the policy.

Think it's terrible - must be a nightmare for those who have a policy with them and their dogs have pre-existing conditions. It never even occurred to me that this could happen  >:D

They sent me a quote for pet wise and a policy schedule [cheeky gits are just gonna take it for granted you want to insure with them. They plan on just taking the money on the 4th by DD.. The cover is not the same, benefits are less and any previous illnesses covered by Halifax are not covered. Classed as pre-existing conditions. It is not life cover, 5,000 maximum benefit then the illness becomes a pre existing condition and excluded from future claims.  Now Sasha is six I have to pay 20% of the bill on top of 75 excess. This is their gold cover policy.
Oh and its more expensive 270.60 for Sasha. It's underwritten by AXA.

Insurance - Halifax stopping cover
« Reply #13 on: January 04, 2012, 09:47:58 AM »
Not sure if this is in the right place, I have posted for years!!

I have just had a letter advising me that Halifax are withdrawing from Pet Insurance.  We have always used them for both dogs are they were cheap and have always paid out.  So I'm really disappointed.

Can anyone advise of a good insurance company - we want lifetime cover - so not annual policies that don't cover ailments for life... if that makes sense.   Our current cocker is actually really healthy TOUCH WOOD, but our last one had a lifetime of problems and the insurance was invaluable.

Help!   Methinks this could get more expensive :P
