Best age to get a new puppy/dog?
« on: August 02, 2014, 02:53:54 PM »
Hi, had a whizz through the posts but couldn't find anything on this. Is there an ideal age for your existing dog (he's a show cocker) to accept a new puppy or dog into the household? It's not going to happen for another couple of years at least (he'd then be 3). I would like a chocolate lab one day...whether this happens while we already have our lovely Blue, or way into the future when he's no longer with us is something I am giving serious thought to. I don't and won't get dogs on a whim - it took two years of discussion to decide to get Blue but it's the best thing I have ever done  :003:
Also, as a neutered male, would another male or a female be best? He is a very sociable lad, good with other dogs.
Would like to hear others experiences or opinions on this, thanks!
