got my new laptop and

i can't use my camera or some software really annoyed about it now. my camera is supposed to be ok with vista but i keep getting an error message saying something about a wrong parameter, as if i know what that means  and my magix photos on cd and dvd software won't work and when i went to the support site they said i would have to buy an e version of it  . coz mine is an old version (2006)
soooo, after months of waiting for the laptop....... all i can use it for is COL 
any hints about the camera would be very helpful.

I haven't got Vista  but does it not have a program compatability wizard? In XP it's under Accessories.

We've just installed Vista on our laptop and what a nightmare it is, none of the Sony drivers are recognised by it, we had no sound, no drivers for the hard drive, have sorted it out now by using generic drivers, think I should have waited until all the problems were ironed out before installing it.
