I think you can download it from Download.com as well as AVG, so maybe try that

With the new version of AVG is anyone else finding their pc unusable whilst the daily scan takes place ? I never had this problem with the old version, it's so frustrating as the scan takes well over an hour.  >:(

I only downloaded it successfully yesterday but on the 1st scan it took almost 90mins and yes the pc was unusable......I was hoping it was a one off cos it was the 1st scan.....maybe not!

After numerous attempts to download it I only managed it successfully on saturday, so I've only done 3 scans but had the same problem with all of them. The scan takes 90 minutes - only after an hour can I use the pc for anything else. If it carries on like this I'm tempted to leave my pc on overnight to do the scan, it's so annoying.  >:(

Mine has always taken almost 90 minutes anyway   I can use it whilst it's scanning but it's hardwork as it's much slower :-\

I've just done a bit of googling and it seems loads of people are having problems with it... for some the scan is taking 4 hours.  :o  :lol2: One tip was to disable the link scanner as it slows everything down, although doing that means you get a permanent warning exclamation mark over the AVG icon in the taskbar.

Apparently updates for the old version will still be ongoing until Dec, not the end of May - I think I might go back to the old version and hope they iron out the problems of the new one before Dec.  ::)

I have had a couple of problems with the new version.

The first time I managed to download it, everytime I tried Internet Explorer, the Skype Help page repeatedly loaded and wouldn't stop.   I deinstalled AVG then Skype, and reinstalled AVG before reinstalling Skype.  This fixed the problem.

However, since installing AVG 8 I cannot print from the web - I can still print from Word etc.   Subsequently I have deinstalled AVG and now my printer works ok.

I would appreciate some advice on how to reinstall version 7.5 - it has disappeared from the AVG website.
