IE Not Responding

Every now and then when I click on a link everything freezes and I get the 'not responding' message... I'd say it's happening 1 in every 10 times. Any suggestions as to what I can do ? This has only started happening recently, after my hard drive was reformatted to remove a virus.

I'd prefer to stick with IE rather than use a different browser if possible.
