I'm not sure whether it is normal or not. Lyla knows enough to get into a poop stance and she does poop but if there is a little bit left, it's almost as if she can't feel it. She is still leaving smears when she sits and she is still doing the occasional rabbit dropping.
On our post op visit, Scott gave her a rectal exam which obviously hurt her a lot. He said she was healing well and also that there was no blood. I asked about the poo and he said he was hopeful it would settle down given time but all the sites I'm looking at say it only lasts a few days and it's a week tomorrow.
Getting a bit worried now.....
-
A week tomorrow is still only a few days ;)
The procedure is very invasive, takes a long time and I think may need a muscle relaxant type of anaesthetic....Pearl really did have a bottom like a baboon and that was just on the outside :shades: I dread to think how swollen she was on he inside - if Lyla still has the same problem on Monday it may be worth having another chat to your Vet - hope the swelling reduces quickly and she's right as rain in no time x

I'm sure you've already read both the threads below but thought they may give you a comparison

The bit I omitted in my thread was the rabbit droppings and scooting lines.... I'm sure it was over a week before both disappeared but coincided with her bottom reducing in size :lol2:
-
I hope Lyla is the same. She is such a clean wee girl and I think she isn't happy to be leaving poo where she sits! :-\
-
Bless her, I'm sure it will settle soon. Her muscles need to heal and get their strength back. :luv:
-
Poor lamb. Hope things settle soon.

Hope things settle for her soon :luv:

I'm sure that dogs like humans heal at different rates. If your vet isn't too worried see how she goes over the next couple of weeks. Try not to worry too much (and I know how hard that is) :bigarmhug:
-
It's slowing down for sure!
-
Good news :D. Fingers crossed (and in Lyla's case buttocks clenched :lol2:) that she's back to normal pooping very soon.
-
Lol! Thanks Elaine. Her buttocks seem to be improving on the clenchability scale! :005: No mini poops or skid marks today. Course that could turn out to be famous last words but I hope not! Stitches out on Monday :D
-
Glad to hear that Lyla's posterior poop performance is getting back to normal :clapping:.
Love the "Buttock clenchability" bit :005: much more genteel than "Tight Ar**d" ;). Hope the stitches come out nice and easily on Monday.
Bob.
-
So do I or the vet will be getting a right hook from me!
-
Aw glad she's getting better. :luv:
-
How's she doing now Sheryl? I hope she's improving a little day by day.
