well last night wasn't too good. He's emptied his bowels though ph34r ....twice
OH stayed up most of the night with Bailey as he was very unsettled. His bum was red and sore cause he keeps scrapping along the floor. He was also bleeding a little which I expect was due to scooting along the carpet in the hallway. He is now being kept in the kitchen at all times to try to prevent this.
This is the biggest thing to try and stop! It's hard work I won't lie.
BUT.....This  morning he's been out to do his business and we have bathed his bum with warm salty water as advised by nurse.
It isn't as red and angry looking today which is such a relief.

He is still wagging his tail, eating and drinking well, going to the loo, and is ok whilst he is laying in bed now. I'm thinking tomorrow will be better wound wise, as it's all calming down.

Update tomorrow again, and thanks for all your best wishes :luv:

small update.
Bailey is scooting along the kitchen floor, with out going into too much detail...little bits of poop are being left in the 'scoot' :-\

I'm terrified he's incontinent :'(

He's been out to do his business and seem's to be managing ok while he's outside. It's just the scooting and leaving bits on the floor
I'm really concerned about. Is this normal bearing in mind what he's been through this week? Will this problem right it's self when he's back
to full health?
Apart from this he seem's to be alright although he does get a bit stressed when the wound itches him cause he jumps up out his bed to
scoot along the floor.

At a rough guess I would say that it's very early days, and he is probably still very sore and not quite 'in control' of what is happening at the back end. Give him a few days for the wound to heal and the swelling to go down, and see how he goes.

I think this is very wise advice but have also replied to your pm x

Well not a good update to report.
Bailey very unsettled. He's been walked and fed but still quite 'jumpy' and scooting along the floor leaving bits of poop.

He 'goes' outside as normal but then when he scoots there are little bits left. It's distressing him I think cause he is such a clean
dog...always has a shower when he's been for a big walk....won't go indoors till he's showered lol (we have a hot water tap and wash station for the dogs outside) :luv:

I'm just concerned and worrying about him ending up incontinent.
Decided last night to wait till Monday and see if he's any better with time.....then contact the vet to see what he says and if it's all normal
to be like this.

It is still quite early in the recovery time for Bailey - Pearl was still quite swollen 3 days after her operation. It may be that his muscles haven't yet returned to normal and possible that the internal stitches are irritating.... I think it's a good idea to get him checked tomorrow tho.

Hope the next 24 hours see him settle down a lot.  If he is like Pearl it was the Friday evening before she was much happier in herself and had almost stopped paying attention to that region  ;) which would be Monday for Bailey

It could also be that that last 'squeeze' to clear everything out, is the one that hurts him the most.  :-*

Well I think we have turned a corner.
Today Bailey has been slightly more settled and less windy ph34r
Still scooting but Im now putting it down to the fact that he's itchy as the hairs will be growing back and annoying him.
Still going to the loo as normal and eating and drinking.
Only once today was there a little bit of poop to clean after a scoot :shades:
He is definetly self conscious of it too, poor wee man.....he looks at me as if to say "opps sorry Mum" :luv:

Good to hear he seems to be improving. It will feel itchy I'm sure. All they can do is scoot a little  ;)
It's still early days really.

little up date on Bailey.
No pain now but still scooting leaving a little poop now and again ph34r

His bottom does not look the same as before the operation, infact it looks larger and we can sort of see inside ever so slightly and the very front of the opening if you get what I mean.

Hoping that this will 'seal' up soon and he stops scooting  so much.

I remember the scooting with Kooki but it was due to the shaved area being so itchy, I used a frozen a tea towel and rested it against her bum for a few seconds every time she started to scoot, she also looked 'different' after her op but once the swelling went down things did return to normal
