Congratulations - it's a great moment when you see them running free! I'm a firm believer in letting a puppy off it's lead on Day 1, and this is what we've done with all the puppies we've had over the years, bar one. But then we've been lucky, having had somewhere safe to do it, not everyone has that luxury. Incidentally, the only dog who used to run off when let off the lead was our first dog, who we didn't let off the lead until she was almost adult! Our other dogs have never let us get out of sight for more than a few seconds - if they lose sight of us they all came charging back!
