31-03-15 Barney s a 5 year old cocker. He first came to us because his owner was taken into care. He has been returned as he has become more and more attached to his new owner and this has led to increasing aggression between him and two of her other dogs. We feel this could have been triggered but so many changes in his life and he is desperate for love and attention but wants this to himself. So we are looking for a home where Barney is an only dog with a knowledgeable and kind owner. He is socialised with other dogs to an extent but does not interact with them and never plays......Barney is a lovely dog who enjoys cuddles and being groomed. He is a great companion but is very self-willed and does not easily take to the word "No" – he just keeps going back to what he wants to do so we need an owner who is experienced working with and training dogs like Barney. However he always comes back when when called so his recall is fine......Barney is totally obsessed with food which should make training easier but he will go to any lengths to get it. Care has to be given when giving him treats. This could be dangerous if a child had food in their hands as he would go for the food so we are looking for a home where any children are teenagers or older. On two occasions he has stolen food from other people's picnic tables and out of their hands!.....In the right hand and with the right owner Barney will be a wonderful companion but he is not for a first time dog owner and needs someone with the experience to help him become a well-rounded and well-behaved boy.
