Blue roan mated with a tri colour

can any one tell me if you mate a blue roan with a tri colour  (white ,tan and black) what colour would the puppies be

No sorry, not without knowing which colours each parent carries. There are numerous possibilities depending on the genetic make-up of each parent. If the blue roan does not carry any other colour gene, then all the pups will be blue roan no matter that the other parent is tricolour because both parents have to carry the recessive genes for "and tan" and "and white" to produce tricolour pups. Other recessive colours like liver and orange roan work the same way - both parents have to carry these particular colour genes to produce puppies of these colours. Sometimes knowledge of the colours close up in the pedigree gives clues as to what colours may come through and there's also a DNA test available now for breeders who want to know what colour genes their dogs carry but otherwise, it's guesswork until a litter actually arrives.

One of my girls (orange roan) was mated to a black/white ticked and tan boy, they produced blue roan, black/white ticked, black/white ticked & tan, blue roan/tan and orange roan.

A really nice colourful litter  :005:
