Raw feeding - Brisket question
« on: June 09, 2010, 07:05:58 PM »
William and Louis are fed part kibble, part raw food (Burns in the morning, Natural Instinct in the evening, with raw chicken wings occasionally).

We were at a farm shop this afternoon and the butcher saw the dogs in the back of the car and kindly gave us some raw Brisket for them. I haven't fed it before but a Google search came up with lots of websites that say it's OK to feed.

Does anyone on here feed it and if so how much? The 2 pieces are huge and have loads of fat to be trimmed off. The bones themselves look quite crumbly and I'm not even sure which bit of the cow/steer the Brisket comes from.

I'd like to give them some for their evening meal tomorrow in place of their Natural Instinct, but the portions look Great Dane sized at the moment :005: Is it OK for me to freeze some?

I don't feed mine beef  :shades:

You could chop it up and freeze some, just give them a piece to see how they get on.

If the bones are soft they should be OK.  I always freeze my meat before giving them it anyway.

Brisket isn't bone, it's cartilage, so easily soft enough to be crunched up.  ;)
Chop it into meal sized porions and go for it, would be my recommendation!!!  :D

Lucky dogs!!!

And, yes, freeze any you don't give and save for another meal!  :D
