Red meat - damages dog livers?
« on: November 09, 2012, 10:28:12 PM »
Rowan has turned into a fussy little madam with food and will only eat her kibble when extremely desperate (as in every few days if necessary). We have tried different ones, some refused altogether and the latest "burns" tolerated occasionally. We have fallen into the trap of human food. She gets best chicken, but also on occasion beef and also beef high beef low fat sausage. Today, a staffie breeder acquaintance said never ever to give dogs red meat as it damages their liver. I knew never to give chocolate or grapes and avoid dairy. Is this right - I feel guilty now?

Never ever heard that one.... and attended a raw meat seminar where there was no mention of it.  At a guess I would say its probably an old wives tale....
