I have an I Phone and am looking for something portable but a bit biggerto take with us travelling. Don't need to do big documents on Microsoft office which I think is a "Surface" but really to check emails look up stuff on internet maps, museums general info. so I guess that a larger screen would be better.
Does anyone have experience of either the I pad or Mini travelling?
Any comments gratefully received.

I have the ipad and daughter has the mini and apart from the size of the screen there really is not much difference. I like the bigger version as it easier to see but daughter takes hers on holiday for watching movies on the plane and games etc. ....and easier to use for taking pictures. If you like the feel of the mini I would go for that as it is a lot cheaper than the standard ipad.

I had an iPad and for my birthday hubby bought me a mini iPad. Don't know why. He now uses the iPad and me the mini. They both do the same. There's nothing I do on the mini that I can't do on the iPad. I do now find the iPad heavy in comparison to the mini. But I prefer the bigger screen of the iPad.
I do like how everything syncs together computer, phone, iPad and kindle

Mini here too. OH has I pad but I find mini much more portable. I've watched films/tv on it and don't find smaller screen a problem. I can get it in my bag if required. Don't know how I managed without it and my i phone, all syncing up together.

I have an iPhone and a standard sized iPad and I prefer the bigger screen size of the iPad. I've looked at the mini but it's too similar to the phone, I do everything bar photo editing on the iPad now and prefer the bigger screen for watching TV programmes etc.

I've just got an Ipad Mini for travelling - the screen is bigger than my old tablet and will do everything I want, including basic photo editing on the fly. I got the 64Gb version so have plenty of room for books and movies and to store photos as a back up if needed (my old tablet is v limited on space). So far I love it :shades:

Thanks for your thoughts I think we are going to go with I pad - the mini is a bit too much like my i phone and I think that OH would prefer a bigger screen. The plan is to share it ........! :D (for the time being anyway!!!!!)

I'm having the same dilemma but since it's for my business ( ;) ) and a work tool to use at shows (to show customers photos etc) I think I'll go for an I Pad.
What gig though? I think 64 would do?
-
64 gig would be more than ample....will hold thousands of pictures and other data. I have a 32 and got tons of stuff on it and only used a smidgen of memory.

thanks LinziS :)

Noooooo, save yourself while there's still time. If you think you're addicted to COL now, just wait until you have an iPad surgically attached to your person. ph34r :005:

I had my ipad glued to me a couple of years ago. It took a year for me to realise I could download Pages word processor app, to laze on the settee and write letters etc. it's very basic and simple, but has ways of wrapping photos in text that a two year old can do! I rarely use my IMac desk computer.
