Broadband And Dial Up

Am going to stay at dads the week after next so won't be able to use my broadband connection, but would like to take my laptop with me to keep up to date with COL  

If I load the software for a dial up provider (maybe tesco) can I connect to dads telephone line and use that while i'm there, or will there be any conflict with the broadband link?

depends if you have a modem or not - you may only have the network card for BB if so it won't work. But if you have the right set up it should be OK. My work laptop is kitted out for both
