Firefox
« on: December 29, 2007, 09:48:40 PM »
Anyone use and can recommend this and is it just a case of downloading it? Is it free?

On occasions I have had the 'IE has encountered a problem .....and have been shut down'  It seems to becoming more regular lately and is driving me nuts  ::)  Have searched Google and seems quite a common problem with lots of advice given on how to solve it but I am totally lost ...they all  seem to give different ideas   One thing I keep seeing though is that a lot of people suggest changing to Firefox, so wondering if it is ok and worth changing to?

As far as I know, it's completely free. I have Firefox and IE, but personally prefer firefox. It runs a lot quicker (IMO) but in my experience does show web layouts differently, ie you can't see coloured scrollbars, the tables aren't necessarily in the right place, etc.   Whether that is just my computer, I don't know.

All in all I recommend it though.

I never use IE only Firefox. I also use Mozilla Thunderbird for email and not Outlook Express.

Yes it's free. I think it's much better than IE if you're on PC. It doesn't run as well on Mac as Safari though.

I use Firefox; I much prefer it - there are one or two sites that don't work properly, so I have to load IE, but for day to day surfing, Firefox is much better imo  ;)

Ah, I've not come across that one - I'll give it a try.

We use Firefox and Thunderbird for email, I do have to use IE for work though as Firefox seems to not like my work website.

Yes, you can switch. I have IE and Firefox installed on the same pc and can choose either one with no limitations.

I use Firefox but know absolutely nothing about computers; Robert installed for me & I've had no problems with it so if a dummy like me can use it, it must be alright!!! ;)
