james wellbeloved
« on: August 06, 2007, 12:29:14 PM »
We used to feed poppy on pedigree but we had a behaviourist come out to see us and she has recomended that we change her food and put her on james wellbeloved turkey and rice because it is hypo-allergenic (as she is quite hypo at times).

has anyone else changed to this food and found a difference?

we have only had her on it afew days so not seen much change yet.

we feed ours a mixture of james wellbeloved and Barf. Both of ours have much healthier coats and teeth since the move and nicer breath.. but neither of ours were hyper before. In fact they have much more energy now.

I would guess it would take a while for her system to clear itself of all of the stuff that was in the pedigree chum.

Ozzy is on JWB because Burns didn't suit his stomach and he has a much better breath and his stools have firmed up a lot.

Poppy has had a big change of food so a bit of time to settle down and she should be better.  :luv:

Louie was on JWB but he was eating very little (if anything).

We changed him to BARF with no adverse effects, mealtimes are a joy to him now :005:

My last pup came to me 6 years ago on Beta Puppy and when he was a few months old and a total nutcase, I changed him onto JWB for the same reasons as you have been told to... but I'm afraid he didn't calm down on it at all  :005: :005: He was just very excitable and loved life.

When he got to about 4 yrs old though, JWB (active adult food) wasn't enough for him he started to get a few skin complaints and gunky eyes etc... I moved him onto Science plan then and that made an enormous amount of difference to his overall condition he looked stunning. Think hyper dogs need a bit 'more' to keep them in top condition sometimes.

Does Chappie contain additives at all  There are lots of natural alternatives which will improve a dogs coat ;)

My dogs quite like a bit of yoghurt mixed with the biscuits and sometimes tuna or ham. I don't think you are supposed to mix raw meat with biscuits.

Before he was diagnosed with his food intolerances, Vegas was changed from Pedigree Chum to JWB and his behaviour improved almost overnight. Wish I had realised the link with diet sooner then I may have enjoyed some of his puppyhood  :-\

I agree with the general consensus, it's worth changing his food. Milo has been a REALLY hyper, snappy puppy (was being fed on eukanuba) and a COL member recommended I try Burns and he has improved beyond belief in about 3 days! He is obv still daft as a brush and abit hyper but now I can tell what he wants by it, for example he gets stoopid if he's hungry, tired, needs the toilet or he wants to play!
