Bones / tripe sticks
« on: August 01, 2012, 09:52:00 PM »
my pup is 12 weeks tomorrow I would like to start giving him some nutritional treats - something that he can really get his teeth in and satisfy him other than his rice bone and stag bar. is he old enough to have a bone and /or tripe stick or anything else?

I have bought dried tripe, pizzles, paddywhack and buffalo ears for our pup and I have just checked it did not say anything on the pack about age, but I am sure someone with more experience can help but I don't really see any problems as they are natural treats just break it into manageable pieces

Monty's been having these since he was 12 weeks and they're an absolute god-send as we only have minimal cockerdile moments and no furniture/shoes etc have been chewed up. Cows hooves are brilliant too.  No tummy upsets either  :005:

If you go onto Zooplus you will find tonnes of great natural chews. They have beef, lamb, fish etc. Brodie loves ostridge and I recently bought her beef scalp which she adores (prepare for the smell though!). I'd imagine they would be perfectly fine for pups, they are 100% natural and low fat too. Edit - do check about the low fat part as I know pigs ears are quite fatty.

Here's a link, just look at natural dried dog snacks:
