i have to admit i can't tell the difference between a working springer and a working cocker and i have 2 working cockers but they seem to be the only 2 in this town.working sprigers really do look like working cockers to me :005:

Heidi was a working springer Lyn -as were Jess and Becca (below).

Does that help at all?

Dillon (chocolate show cocker) has been called a working cocker, a field spaniel, a poodle ( ::)) and more recently a 'sausage dog' ( :o)

I once asked a chocolate working cockers mum what breed he was! (bearing in mind i was standing there with my Stanley (Golden CS)

The lady looked at me as if i had three heads >:( and said - He's a cocker spaniel TOO! >:D

She did make me feel a right numpty!

I just replied with 'ooooh theres curly his coat is!' - as a compliment like!

'hes a working' i was barked back at  >:(

mmmm nice lady! :005:

Well now i know better eh!

happydog,i can tell on photo's,mostly.just not when they're there in front of me in the flesh.paddy was the first time i ever saw a working cocker and he's only half worker :D i knew of them vaguely.i am getting a little better at telling the difference,or is it that we never see working cockers here just the odd springer or two.so i always say "ooh what a lovely little springer" :D

According to someone who owns and competes with a Working Cocker Beatle is a small Springer, she could tell by the colouring.   ::) ::)And....another member at puppy class I was asked if she was a Jack Russell :005:
She's got a bit of growing to do if she's a springer....6 months old and nearly 8 kilos!!

I have to own up to the fact that in my complete ignorance and before we started to research cockers, I didn't know they could be black and tan :embarassed: Sorry :'(

Yes. Working springers are generally shorter legged and stockier. A show springer is generally taller and more 'elegant' and in my experience slighter more hyper - but I fully expect to get shot down in flames for that last remark  ph34r :005:

Even when I joined the Gundog club the man asked me if Badger was a mongrel (as his Grandad was Jade of Livermere I wasn't amused)

I have also been asked if they are Springer crosses
