...dictated where we go on holiday
...dominate every day
...make the house disgusting every day
...cr*p all over the garden
...cost us a fortune
...are forcing us to rebuild and redesign the house (not strictly true, but I will admit are a large factor in it)
...been the biggest consideration in which off road buggy we've had to buy...
AND THE FUMES OF WET DOG IN THIS CAR ARE UNBAREABLE!!!!!!!!!!

So why on earth do we have them??'

Was a perfectly reasonable question from OH this weekend whilst sitting on a wet muddy car seat that Normy had decided to make a bid for. She'd worked out that it was definitely a better bet than the damp boot behind the dog guard after a particularly muddy rainy walk

OH was to be found later that evening happily snuggled up on the sofa in front of the fire with two content dogs cuddling him and shedding now dry mud and sand all over the front room that we'd just cleaned 

Sound familiar?

All true - apart from the buggy, we have had a large glass dog kennel built with leather beds though so bella can be comfortable!!

Very familiar  but

...Who wants to go to exotic climes 
...what would we do all day 
...a great excuse for not doing the housework  cus it only gets mucky again 
...good fertilizer 
...money cant buy love 
...easier to build dog kennels.....then you go and live in them 
...invest in a sledge and let the dogs work for there supper 
...buy an open top car

and the reason we have them is exactly that

While walking around in my best clothes for uni this morning in the pouring rain, trudging through mud, only to have to go home and watch Reuben chase the cat around jumping at all the furniture to get at her with his muddy paws. That was an hour and half ago, and now im kinda looking forward to going home at 12 to giving him a cuddle (just hope hes dried off)

I've been trying to find a dog friendly holiday cottage for next year. There are plenty about but when you have to consider garden type/size/safety, proximity to good walks, laminate not cream carpet, log fires for drying off wet dog, dog friendly places to visit, dog bans on beaches etc etc.... it makes you wonder just who the holiday is for 

Makes it all worth it though when they have a great time too

hee hee sounds so familiar we go camping now which this year was a feet in its self. howling wind 4 pumped up kids marmite bouncing like a kangaroo and us struggling to put a 10 man tent up which was intent on running of into new forest whilst me and hubby try not to show fraying tempers!!!
