I had a thought over the weekend and as the wife will tell you i dont get many of them ( well good ones anyway).
My thought is this ... would'nt it be nice if COL had a material badge of some decription that pepole could stich onto an item of clothing. This would advertise the site and let us the members feel part of this club (not that we dont anyway).
I understand there would be a cost involved but surely if the members wanted it then they would be willing to pay for it. What i mean by this is , is if the COL team design the badge and post it on the forum then people could buy it if they wished.
Just a thought.
If it's a silly idea then i will run all my ideas past the wife before i post them. That way i'll know that i dont sound completely mental.

Thats a good idea! Then at places like crufts you could spot a COL swat! A pin might be easier tho!

It's an idea which has come up before, but has never proceeded.
I think Stuey and the mods have some reservations about it, or it might just be that they don't have the time to organise it. I remember that at one time we were going to organise t-shirts, but unfortunately the member who was going to get them printed left the forum and the idea perished!
It would be good to hear what the mods etc think about this idea. Perhaps , if they are willing in theory, we could do a poll to see how many of us would want one and how much we'd be willing to pay. I would love some kind of badge and/or a car sticker!

That's the problem really Annette. We've had various ideas put forward before but when it comes to carrying them through, volunteers often fall by the wayside when it comes to the crunch ;) The Mod Team already donate a lot of their spare time to keeping COL going and most of us just don't have the free time for additional projects. I'm involved with another Club which does have merchandise available to buy (including car stickers & badges) & know that it takes quite a lot of work processing payments and then packing up & sending out orders. Another problem is the costs involved - ordering any kind of merchandise generally means an up front purchase of a fairly large quantity of items which would have to be paid for in advance with no guarantee the items would sell afterwards. Fine if you're a Club with a regular income from memberhip fees etc but COL doesn't have this (though members who kindly donate do help with the running costs of course :blink:). We're not dismissing any ideas out of hand but members need to appreciate what's involved in putting any ideas into practice.

I have the time and the know how to do these things, I just do not have the artwork skills that are needed. Am more than happy to sourse costs, min quanties, etc if people want me to.

Do you know something i always thought the COL team were very,very rich people who thought nothing of giving away there easily gained money on us the loyal members.
Somebody once told me that they never sleep and give up there holidays to tend to our every needs.
LMAO
Anyway it was just a thought. No doubts i will have another 12 pints this weekend and come up with something else.
ps. If i do shall i post it on poodlesonline first and see what they say.

I liase with 2 printers/suppliers of custom stickers and clothing for the dance school and for the gym so if I can help I am more than willing.

I think it is a nice idea if someone is prepared to organise it! The design could be very simple - maybe just a silhouette of a cocker and 'COL' - I guess it is more for us to be able to recognise other COL members than anything ;) I think badges and car stickers are the best options as they would be low cost and the badges would be very useful at COL meet ups/shows etc :D

Would this type of venture begin to creep down the route of identifying COL as a "club", rather than a forum, though? I just wonder about the legal implications of this kind of venture.....and also, what about trading/tax laws if you are selling goods?
I'm not trying to be negative, and I love socialising here and tell everyone with a cocker about COL - I am just thinking about the practical implications...... ph34r If you sell something to someone, then you would enter into a legal contract with the customer.........so the person "selling" the merchandise must be prepared to accept this responsibility ;)

a couple of years ago, we decided to wear badges for crufts to recognise othe colers.
i think only me and amanda a wore them, everyone else seemed to not want to amit to knowing us, but Mike was very nice, and disnt seem embarrassed!!!! i wonder how he is?

I would love a car sticker! I don't know much about liabilities etc but wouldn't imagine it being a problem, I'm a member of several forums and help run one and seen similar things work before.

I'm currently sitting in my class at college, and having read this thread earlier it gave me the perfect idea for a lone project for what we're doing in this class.
I apologise in advance to Inca's owner for borrowing Inca's pic .... I was reading a thread on Inca just as we were told what we had to do ... And I didnt have a pic of my own baby to use.
But this is my finished piece ....

Not just on forums - I found one of my photo's reproduced on someone's website with no acknowledgement or permission, so have had to start copyright-marking them to ensure they are not *stolen* :o
Hopefully, your college course will cover the issues of copyright soon, so you know what you can and can't do ;)
