Hi, some do have a very sloppy sit, if this is what you are seeing. Maybe you could get a pic to post to show us more clearly what she is doing with her back legs?
Does she spread her legs out behind her when lying down, a bit frog like? If so this is not at all unusual.
Any way, a pic may help if you can post one :D
-
she's a puppy - her ligaments/muscles/tendons/bones haven't fully formed and 'set' yet so unless she has pain or she limps I would think she is normal.
-
Agree with Livercake - as a pup, Honey would often lie completely splayed.... and her legs spread when sitting too....
She has no problems with her hips! :D
-
Please check my pic ....i posted her photo... as i don't know how to paste url for image.....

thank you guys for giving me knowledge,,...

I see her pic in your avatar and her 'L' legs - it is quite extreme but unless she is limping or showing pain then she should be fine. Get your vet to check her legs when you next go ;)

When you say Jade spreads her legs do you mean when she is lying down?
I have attached a photo of my Marley as a puppy - she often laid down in this position as a puppy but never as an adult. I think this position is quite common  .
Perhaps you could post a better photo of Jade. :luv:

Dennis is 15 months and he still lies like that :D
-
Both mine lie like Marley, my oldest is 14 months and has started doing it less and less. They particularly enjoy sliding off the sofa with their legs dragging behind them. :005:
-
Solly has always layed like this and she is 2 yrs now and she has no problems and my old boy Merlin always lay like this and he never had any problems with his hips.
Here is Solly

None of my other dogs lie like this.

thank you all for your lovely reply.......really appreciate your help....

We call it "frog dog" :005: It's very normal, lots of cockers do it :D
-
Both our male cockers do it, but our little girl doesn't! We did wonder whether it was something to do with allowing natural dangle-age to help with cooling of boy parts :005: (especially since our old boy used to gently sigh as he lowered himself on the cool granite hearth). We call it the draught excluder position or Landseer (see lions on plinths in Trafalgar Square). Neither of our male cockers had any problems with hips so I guess it is just something some of them do.

Proud owner of a frog dog here too :005:
My previous cocker, Lucy did it her whole life and never had any joint problems at all :luv:
-
Both my cockers have done frog dog and my Weimaraner does it too... which really is quite a sight
I think the OP is more worried about her dogs legs facing out when she's sitting though if I've understood? Would suggest the vet has a quick look at them next time she's there too, but I'm sure it's just the joys of being a bendy youngster :luv:
-
Yes my Charlie does the 'frog legs' . He also doesn't sit very well- his legs start to slip out to the side!
-
I call it the "Cocker Sprawl". I thought they all did it?!
-
Murphy does this too, when we're at training, in the show ring or anywhere where he wants to talk to other people or dogs and not me he will lay like this and then do (what we call) 'The Caterpillar' across the floor to get where he wants to be! He slides on his tum propelled by flailing back and front legs!
A breeder once told me it means that they have good hips like cockers should if they lay like this! So it's definitely not a bad thing. Although if you're that worried a quick vet check can't hurt (except your purse strings!).

thank you for your reply she sits like this....

Yep, that's frog dog! :005: :luv:
Not a problem! :D
-
thank you for your reply...

This is not a problem at all, I think its really cute, Chloe used to do it when she was a pup, now she just spreads ONE leg out :005:
-
Roobs used to do it as well
-
aww what a cutie, Bluebell lays like this to, she is doing it less though now that she is older. Strangely Jasmine never has.
-
Bob is 5 years old and he still dose it ::)
-
Jade is :luv:
My cocker does the one leg spread as did our last cocker, but my parents last springer spaniel was very much a frog dog when he lay down!!
-
Lola still does it - we call it spatch-cocker!

My girls tend to lie like this !

My 10 week old Charley does this. Also when she's playing with a toy that rolls away she throws herself at it and lands like this :005:
-
Morgan  always laid like this, and he was over 11 years old :luv: :luv:
-
Ginny does this to :005:
-
grace also does it like a frog :005: :005:
