Title: flyball
Post by: *MaryG* on October 31, 2011, 05:34:47 PM
Can someone tell me what flyball is. I have seen a class advertised but don't know what it is. How old does the dog need to be?

Dog needs to be usually a year old, those some clubs do start training earlier.  I have two dogs who are competing on a regular basis, with the other two in training.  You do need to be quite committed - we are competing every two weeks at the moment until Christmas.  We joined our club a year ago and Misha started competing in March.

This is a link to the BFA website which give some information about it on the far right hand side.

Does help if your dog has been taught and loves to retrieve a ball, otherwise they just don't get it.  I found that Lexi didn't understand until I taught her to retrieve.

Lola had a taster session with the team that won Crufts  :o
I really should take her back - we could become famous  :005:
