In ref to the half worker X half show .....I can't better the excellent advice & opinions already given & you know, as harsh it may sound, it really is good advice that is well worth taking on-board  ;)

& in ref to the breeding because your girl is so lovely & you'd like her to have pups etc .... I can answer that from experience as I did just the same, some 6 years ago. All the relevant tests done, support of an experienced breeder & our vet etc etc & did everything as we should but .....
things didn't quite turn out as we had imagined - we couldn't of forseen it & is put down to 'one of those things' by specialists & professionals alike ...& there are plenty more 'one of those things' waiting to happen at any given opportunity ..... breeding is the risk you take & only worth undertaking with knowledge & experience.. There is also a chance you could lose your lovely girl during/after whelp ...a very slim chance but a chance non the less - this has to be acknowledged when considering breeding & you have to be clear in your mind if losing her would be worth the risk  :016:
These are a couple of links to threads that refer back to our girl Tinkerbelle .... a pup that was born with 'one of those things' that can go wrong

I can't regret breeding from her mum ( my girl Purdey) as I would never of had Tinker but I would never breed again & leave it to the experts & those able to cope with any eventuality that may come  ;)

Hope all these anti breeding replies haven't offended or upset you at all - they aren't meant to but are meant to help you see 'the other side' to breeding that sadly, we have knowledge of & share it with you to help you make a balanced decision  ;)

P.S. photos of cockers are almost compulsory on here  :005:  ...would love to see pics of your little girl  :shades: :luv:
If your dog thinks you're the best.....don't seek a second opinion!!

Thank you all very much for your replies, you have given me a lot to think about.

When I wrote the word average, I did not mean to insult anyone and I'm sorry if I did, but I did not want to use the word normal either, so by average, I meant and should have written standard.

While I am here, can anyone tell me why when I see show cockers, they all appear to be different, for example different shapes, different coats, different sizes ect.

Im sure no one was insulted at the word average.  :D
What I just meant too was we are all biased towards our cockers.

Me too Payneyg.  So many of us (well, me anyway) have made so many "dog mistakes" we just want to help, and will support you whatever you decide.  Would love to see pics of your girl.

(I think it can be really tough going on a forum as a newbie.  We got a pedigreed (but rescue) cat last year and I went on a Bengal forum for info.  Although friendly and supportive, they all came down on me like a ton of bricks for wanting to let my cat go outside.  I felt terrible (and let her out anyway  ph34r ) but so far she's fine.
