dog becoming very bossy!
« on: January 16, 2014, 09:20:02 AM »
Pepper is three and developing an 'attitude'! it reminds me of adolescence. he's fine in the house but outside he a) runs and barks crazily as soon as we arrive anywhere and barks very aggresively at other dogs. it is all talk as he then plays fine once they have sniffed eachother but it is very off putting and embarrassing. He also b) is going much further away form me and re call not so good. Any ideas? he has been 'done' but it is like he is having a surge of male hormone!

This is interesting as Maddie is just over three and has started to do exactly the same thing apart from the recall which we always work hard on. It's very out of character for her in terms of the barking and growling at other dogs. I did wonder if she had picked it up from Bramble who has always been more reactive. At the moment I am using the clicker with her and watching her intently and surroundings to avoid any potential trouble, hoping it will pass. It will be interesting to hear other's views.
