Drops in ears

This may sound silly, but does anyone have any tips on putting drops into their dogs ears. Cooper hates it and what is normally a very passive dog turns into a snarling beast :- despite treats etc.

Jane S:
What are the ear drops for, Angelac? If Cooper has an ear infection, then he probably has a sore ear & it may hurt when you put the drops in. Even so, I'm afraid I wouldn't tolerate any growling or snarling - it will help if you put Cooper on a table/raised surface to administer ear drops as dogs generally feel less confident about misbehaving when they're "up in the air". Be firm with him - make it clear that you won't permit growling & only reward him when the job is done. If you try to bribe him with treats while you are putting the drops in, then you are inadvertently rewarding him for bad behaviour so it's best not to do this.

Thanks for that I will try putting him up a bit higher and seeing if that works. They were to clean his ears out. I think I might try some of the stuff talked about in the forums in future. the powder :)

Jane S:
Good idea - most Cockers are happier with the powder than with a cold liquid squirted down their ears & Thornit is often much more effective than the drops anyway :)

thanks, any sugestions as to where I can get it from?
