Goodness -what a shock  :o

I would suggest a long line to ensure that Sammy leaves bitches alone..........until you know if he can be neutered safely  :-\

Alternatively, you could move here to the Isle of Wight - far fewer roaming bitches to contend with  ;)

OMG!  :o

What a nightmare for you.  :-\ As you say it was a good thing that you took him in today, hopefully now Sammy can be treated before his problem becomes apparent. My thoughts are with you, its so upsetting when things like this happen. I've just been through it too with my four legged babies and its heartbreaking, but I'm coming out the other side, and so will you.  ;)
Sam is mum to - Sapphi (working black Lab 5 1/2 yrs), Max (Golden Retriever 4 yrs) Morgan (American Cocker 2 1/2yrs) and mum in spirit to Barney (English Cocker 3 1/2 yrs now living in Scotland)

Oh no !! poor boy  :luv: lucky you took him though, I know it is more stressful wondering if he is suddenly going to keel over, now at least though he can have treatment for whatever his problem turns out to be.
Poor little man, I hope he keeps well, give him a big hug from us

awww, thanks JackieD :-*
We're still not sure if there is anything wrong with him now. I think that Sammy got himself in a state after we left him at the vets and then he was poked and prodded and then left to wonder where we were. My heart would be racing too if that had've happened to me. Been reading about it online, and there are so many stories about it being a common thing and also it's a way to line the vets pockets too >:( Not sure what to do now :-\ We may go to another practice for a 2nd opinion.
We obviously want what's best for Sammy, so that is #1 priority ;)

Hiya,
I know what you mean about vets "lining their pockets" I once experienced the same but with a cat.
He has a noticable heart murmer, he has been castrated and at the grand age of 13 has just been "under" to have a dental done.
He is absolutley fine i think it's whether you have trust in your vets and whether they are honest enough to you.
My vets don't see it as a problem and never have they always said if he needed to go "under" they just adjust things accordingly, simple they say.
If i was you i would whisk him off to a another vet for a second oppinion and get those "walleys" off. The stress he is suffering when he smells those sexy ladies is just not nice for you or him.
Best of luck
My sister just had her Newfoundland dog in to the vet to get his Walleys off too, he's much better now with life!

Think that's maybe a bit unfair - vets are perfectly able to distinguish between the racing heart beat of a dog stressed at being at the vet and an abnormal irregularity. A second opinion may well be a good idea to confirm whether there is a problem but I would not dismiss what your vet has said on the basis of info found on websites. I certainly would not want any vet operating on one of ours dogs if their professional opinion was that he/she might not survive the surgery - how could you take that risk? I'd want the problem investigated which is what your vet has done by referring Sammy to a specialist. Hopefully he'll be fine and any problem he has can be treated but it's best to find out for sure. Good luck anyway

Just noticed there is another thread going on the Health board so I'll close this one now to avoid repetition.
