Maudie is booked in to be groomed and hand stripped in two weeks in time for Christmas! Its only £2 more than clipping and she gets a lovely bath and her toe nails clipped! She will be a beautiful girl!!!!! ;)

Wow, thats a reasonable price - I might be asking for a recommendation in the New Year, as we travel to the SW occasionally and if the groomer is good, its worth having Molo done while we are there  ;)

It is £30 all in all I dont know if thats a good price but if you want the details PM me and ill let you know! However after reading an earlier post I dont know if she may be too young for hand stripping but she is so ultra hairy lol. I guess they will advise!

If I take my Newfie bitch to the groomers for a bath and dry (because I can't be bothered doing it!!) it costs £50, if I take her brother for the same it is £60 because he is bigger! So everything for £30 sounds ok to me! :D... But then I have never had a Cocker done at a groomers.

Groomers are expensive and most use clippers

Would be happier with the word 'Some' in front of the above statement. I like to think I give value for money and I ALWAYS discuss with the owner what is best for the dog, which has occasionally meant persuading them not to have the dog clipped  :o ;)

True...apologies...I should have explained better by saying that they are expensive compared to trimming yourself.  Obviously the initial outlay for the equipment costs, but spanned over the cockers lifetime I am sure it is much less than taking the dog to the groomers.  Most groomers imo dont overcharge, just I would find it hard to get money together to pay for Storm to regularly go to a good groomer who wouldnt just clip her, and so I much prefer to trim her myself.   Sorry...didnt mean to offend anyone.

lolajays...will you post pics of the result?  I'd be interested to know...like I said before I am not living with Storm atm and so her hair is a bit wild...I would pay to take her to a groomer that could keep on top of it whilst I am away...if I could find a good groomer.

I do Scooby myself and I'm going to be doing Misty too - I have to admit, it's hard work just doing one, so I don't know how the others manage with a few dogs  :005:

I use thinning scissors and a coat king for his coat and have just invested in some clippers for the top of his head and neck as I was struggling with the thinning scissors there.  I'm now expert but he looks OK  :005:

I can tell I'm going to have a nightmare with Misty as she's only 14 weeks old and she has loads of coat already  ::)

He he - we hack away at Max all the time but we've taken advice from a proper groomer & watched her a few times & now we 'go it alone' regularly - he looks pretty good too if I do say so myself - like everyone says, it always grows back & there's not too much you can do wrong if you're careful!! Max's coat is so thick & long that we'd be forever in the groomers otherwise!! The thinning scissors have been our best investment by far!!  ;)

Well Maudie was done today! Her she is lookin all pretty however she is rubbish at standing still so photos as usual are awful! I think she looks lovely however I dont have a clue! i know they used thinning scissors in some places as she is still a baby and some of the hair would not come out! I also asked for her feet to be taken short around her toes as she takes so long to dry out! Its a shame this isnt smellivision as she smells lovely!

She looks great; it looks like the groomer did a really good job!  :D

Would you be willing to pm me the details of the groomer, please?

It would be really helpful to have someone keep on top of Storm's hair whilst I am away, just so it isnt such a mammoth task each time I see her.
