Working Or Show?
« on: March 27, 2007, 04:35:33 PM »
I was wondering if anyone could tell us whether they think Phoebe is a working or show type cocker?

She is 3 and a half and we have recently got her from a farm where they were selling up and moving to a small holding and the farmer didnt want to take her cos she wouldnt work!

She is tiny (only around 9 kilos) and I think looks show type in the body but she has very high set ears.

Here are a couple of photos of her -

A few names in her pedigree include:~

Sire - Gwynmardene Jake
Dam - Azalea Petal

Further down in the pedigree names include:~
Teifi
Grovewillow
Bellvalley
Cilwendeg
Go for Royal Gold
Glenfiddich

Thanks

I know for sure that Glenfiddich is a Asquannes show champion and its most deffanitly a show type but then again it may be a name of a worker also

Yes sorry the full name is SH CH Asquannes's Glenfiddich - soory I though the Glenfiddich bit was the affix.

I have done a bit of reading up and from what I can gather quite a few of the names in her pedigree are from less reputable breeders (being diplomatic!) but does anyone know if the lines are show or working?

And yes she is  :luv: absolutely gorgeous and good as gold.

Only thing is as she came from a farm she lived outside so is not completely housetrained as yet and has absolutely no idea what toys are! She looks at me like I'm mad sat there waving a toy in her face! ::)

Right I could be wrong but I think SH CH is show. From what Ive read I belive SH is show and working is something like Ftch......It begins with F at least I think.

Looks like mainly commercial breeding (show type) but with one proper show line (the Asquannes line). Not sure why the farmer wanted to work a little Cocker with this breeding but his loss is your gain :D

Thanks Jane,

I think she was more of a pet at the farm really - from what I could gather she hung around the farmhouse all day with the farmers wife who really loved her - she was crying (the farmers wife - not the dog)when we came to pick her up, but she said they had to be realistic and could only take the dogs that could earn their keep.

I am so pleased with her anyway whatever her lines - I cant get over how well natured she is - especially compared to Charlie our 18months old lunatic blue roan >:D - we've gone from the sublime to the ridiculous!

What a bootiful girl, I'm with you, no matter whether work or show she is a

I'd be gutted to have to part with her but obviously it's your gain.
