Blimey that is expensive I've got Jock covered, he's 8yrs old and he costs £8 per month so shop around  ;)

(ooops better say not sure how much discount that is with as OH works for the Ins company, but it can't be that much)

There are a few but the best bet it to call and ask personally exactly what they do and do not cover

William is insured with the Kennel Club and thats nearly £350 which I thought was a lot considering my horse was only £20 a year more. I didn't shop around but carried on with the 6 weeks free insurance I had in my puppy pack.  Do be careful with the cheaper insurance companies, they don't always pay out as readily as the established insurers.

I used the first 6 weeks free insurance and then changed

I think that is very expensive  :o  My two are with M&S which offers better cover - zero excess and £7000 per illness per year for life and I pay less than £25 per month for both of them.

One thing I had to take into consideration is what it would cost to replace a dog (not that you can ever replace a dog that you love ) but Belle would cost me around £2000 to replace with a dog of her breeding and standard of training. When I was asked the cost to replace, I had to produce a receipt of purchase for her, just another thing to keep in mind.

remember also that the premium varies wildly in relation to your location - our m&s cover for jarv (which we are so relieved we have) here in wiltshire increased to £210.74 in 2006, which is expensive, but is very good cover....

I have to say Barney is with P Plan on the supreme cover. We have always been with them and have never had any problems with them paying out. I'm really happy with them. We used to hava a rabbit who's treatment came to almost £400 after he got an illness and P Plan payed out with no questions.

Healthy pets has gone up for Lucy - we now pay £6.08 per month, up from £5.65, Lucy is 15 months and has had 2 claims she is covered for £5000 per condition with no time limits.

I have heard that Halifax are quite reasonable
