can't download avg help me please

i have tried several times now to download avg to protect my lappy from the horrid little virus' that can attack but i can't get it to work. it starts to download and then times out. i use windows vista and i was wondering if this is the reason.
anyone got a clue whats going on here?

are you downloading the correct one that works with Vista..other than that I have no idea I am a complete technophobe.

me too i am downloading the only one i can find. maybe its the firewall on norton stopping it getting through (i have only just thought of this) so i will disable the norton later and give it another go.

I'll be curious to see if there's an answer as I've tried many times to download it and haven't been successful either  I have Windows XP and couldn't download AVG even before I had Norton.

I don't like the Norton overall, it's kept out a lot of the nasties but it won't let me at some things that open a new window, like online catalogs and stuff, and it won't let me have the extra smilies on COL!

have you been on AVG site and done the free download....if i can do it any one can.

They also have a forum on there for advice so you may see if if anyone else is having similar problems

Ive downloaded it to a disc in the past then taken this over to ohs comp as he doesnt have fast broadband. maybe get a pal to do this for you .

sometimes avg servers are busy, or are you downloading it from download.com's mirror? try this link here http://free.grisoft.com/filedir/inst/avg75free_484a1100.exe

I have no trouble downloading it. . . I have it saved if any one wants a disc?

well i have tried everything. i turned off all firewalls and other protection and still it didn't load on. i am going to look into the site and see if anyone can help. i reformatted yesterday coz i wasn't able to get onto some of the other forums i am a member of. reformating cured that problem but not the avg one. i got up to 34% yesterday then it timed out again.
