Forum connection problems
« on: June 22, 2010, 09:59:58 AM »
For a few weeks now, I've quite often had the following message for a few mins when I'm browsing the forum:

Connection Problems
Sorry, SMF was unable to connect to the database. This may be caused by the server being busy. Please try again later.

Is this a problem my end or just as it says, that the forum server is too busy for me to connect?

Thanks

Hannah, Dave & Normy xx

I get this quite regularly, usually just leave it for a while and come back later.

Yeah I've had the same thing, tho to be fair, its always back pretty quick, couple of minutes max which compared to a lot of forums/databases/websites I think is PDQ....

And me - after a really good spell it does seem to have been happening more frequently over the couple of weeks or so - no particular time of day noticed.

It's normal when the server is busy to get this message - as others have said, try again in a few minutes and it's usually fine. It tends to happen when there's a lot of people logging on at the same time, more noticeably early morning, lunch time & then later in the evening. Haven't noticed it more often than usual lately though - it may just be that those who are experiencing it most are logging on at the most popular times of day :D
