black an tan and chocalate an tan
« on: September 11, 2010, 10:53:42 PM »
13/14 years ago i was looking for a cocker for my son. searchin through i found a black and tan all the way in wales (didnt know anything about puppy farms then) but couldnt find one closer so i got her. amber was a working cocker and lovely with fantastic eyes. every one fell for her at once and 2 more people one being a vet drove the 5 hours to get one too. i breed her and got tanz. the lady who had the stud had been trying for black and tan but got none i got 3 then 3 more then another 2one of which was saffron. when they got older i breed them too more black and tan and to our surprise choc an tan and another in the end 5 choc an tan boys one girl poppy.
i had only seen one choc an tan i phoned kc they said so far only about 10 in that colour so far that year.
i come on here there loads where did yours all come from mine are welsh x essex

Wasn't too sure whether you were asking a question about these colours or looking for info on breeders so have moved your post here for now. There are quite a few pups of these colours being bred now - certainly more than 10 a year. Of course a lot of the commercial breeders are churning out these colours just to make money but there are good breeders who occasionally have these colours and do all the right health tests before breeding. Breeding for colour alone is never a good idea - health & temperament have to come way before colour (shame the commercial breeders don't agree)

You might be interested in getting hold of the KC Breed Record Supplements; you'll be able to see all the litters registered per quarter - there are more than a few liver & tans, black & tans etc and they're all over the place. They're still not common from the specialist reputable breeder but plenty elsewhere nowadays.

If other members post on this thread about where their Cockers of these colours come from, can you not mention the breeder or kennel please, thanks

We have Abbi who is a black and tan. She is just 18 months and came from a 1 off litter in Chatham in Kent. There were 2 Black and Tan and 1 choc and tan in the litter, as well as a choc roan and 2 blue roans (I think!).
We have met very few other black and tans while we have had her.

dodgers litter consited of 6 puppies - 3 black and tans & 3 solid reds. his mum was solid red and his dad was tri coloured. dodger is all black and tan with a small white blaze on his chest. (photo posted earlier in thread)

we were the only black and tan cocker owners in our village but now my groomer who lives round the corner to us has brought a black and tan bitch from billericay.

i love dodgers markings as we have always joked it looks like he was born wearing a mask (like the mask of zorro!!) Infact the breeder nicknamed him Bandit for the very same reasons!

Heres a photo of him with my other cocker lola.

Dennis is my show black and tan. He is now 5.5 year old.  He came from a breeder in Cupar in Fife.  There are very very few Black and tans here in Fife, and now that his sire has been retired there will be even less.  He is very intelligent and I love him to bits.  Here he is in one of his heelwork to music positions.
