Not my own dog, but my Parents who obviously I loved and a good friend to Archie, also a golden retriever so sorry for this but just wanted to mark her parting. We have just got back from a camping trip to Rye, with my Parents and Sophie. I got there on my Birthday, on the 15th and Archie ran straight up to Sophie but she was very lethargic. She deteriorated during the afternoon and eventually we asked the campsite owner where the nearest vet was. My dad drove her there and the vet came to the car to see her. He listened to her chest and said he was very sorry but she was dying. 30 seconds later Sophie put her paw on my dads hand, closed her eyes and fell asleep. She was 13 and we are devastated. I have tears rolling down my face as I write this. She was a beautiful dog, a real gentle giant. Sleep well Sophie, we all miss you. xx
